According
to the study, carbon present in 10 meteorites, spanning more than four billion
years of Martian history, came from the earth and was not the effect of
contamination on Earth. Molecules containing big chains of carbon and hydrogen,
the building blocks of all life on Earth are one of the main targets of Man's
missions to Mars, and key to accepting if life ever existed on our neighbouring
planet. With the help of sophisticated research techniques, the team shows the least
several of the macromolecules of carbon were indigenous to the meteorites
themselves and not infectivity from Earth.
A
team of scientists in the Carnegie Institution for Science, found reduced
carbon in the meteorites and according to them it was created by volcanic
activity on Mars These findings
give researchers insight into the chemical processes taking place on Mars and
will help aid future quests for facts of ancient or present Martian life.
